Do you want to work in a modern laboratory environment where accuracy, quality, and development are at the center? SSAB Oxelösund is now looking for a dedicated and structured laboratory technician for our chemistry lab with a primary focus on powder testing of steel.
Becoming part of the SSAB family means joining a journey. A journey that we believe is crucial for the planet's future and sustainability. Steel has been one of the most important materials for our societal development and will continue to be in the future. In our homes, in bridges that connect our cities, and in tomorrow's cars. At SSAB, we are proud of our history and our leadership in high-strength steel. At the same time, we are aware that steel production is one of the industries that emits the most greenhouse gases in the world. This must change. Therefore, we have developed the world's first fossil-free process for steel production and are committed to becoming largely fossil-free. As part of SSAB, you will be important in realizing this goal and thus contributing to a green transition of the entire steel industry.
The section is responsible for a wide range of analyses across the entire operation, and you may also work with other parts of the laboratory. As a laboratory technician with us, you will play a vital role in ensuring that SSAB's products meet the highest quality standards and fulfill internal and external requirements.
The working hours are daytime.
The position is a 6-month temporary contract with a possible extension.

- Perform powder testing of steel, which includes sample preparation, analysis, and quality assurance of results.
- Work with various types of chemical analyses within the section's lab.
- Enter and document results in our systems according to applicable procedures.
- Perform troubleshooting, calibration, and basic maintenance of laboratory instruments.
- Contribute to the development of methods, routines, and working practices.
- Act as an ambassador for safety and compliance with SSAB's workplace requirements.
About you
- You have a laboratory education in chemistry or a relevant equivalent field.
- You have experience in laboratory work – preferably in metallurgy, materials analysis, or industry-related laboratory environments.
- You have good habits of working methodically, following instructions, and ensuring quality at every step.
- You have the ability to handle multiple parallel tasks and contribute to positive teamwork.
Meritorious
- Experience in powder testing or analysis of metallic materials
- Knowledge of laboratory instruments
Personal qualities
- We believe you are a meticulous and responsible person with good problem-solving skills.
- You thrive in a role where structure is important, while also being flexible and able to adapt to changes.
- You enjoy collaborating and helping where needed.
